Brenda L. Croft works closely with family, friends and Indigenous community members in Sydney to create her artworks. Often her subjects look straight at the camera, directly and candidly returning the gaze. Of this she has said, ‘By placing myself behind the camera I am taking control of my self image and images of ourselves. I cannot, do not, take sole responsibility but challenge and attempt to reverse the expected.’

Students can become citizen scientists and participate in the National School Citizen Science BioBlitz 2023 to help gather information about Australia’s biodiversity. Teachers can learn about citizen science, BioBlitzes, and activities and links to curriculum. Year 3 – S2 Year 4 – S2 Year 5 – S3 Year 6 – S3 Year 7 – S4 Year 8 – S4 National School Citizen Science BioBlitz 2023: Discover the Biodiversity in your Area Students can contribute to important data on the biodiversity in their school grounds or local area.

Teachers will learn how to contribute to the National School BioBlitz, help students to contribute to the CSIRO’s Atlas of Living Australia biodiversity database, and use citizen science for school activities relating to Key Learning Areas.

Teacher Teacher professional learning – Earthquakes This teacher professional learning session will explore how you can access real earthquake data in the classroom, walk you through a global 3D earthquake model and will provide you with some ready-to-use classroom activities prompting students to collect and analyse data. The ultimate battle! Join us with artist Jess Herrington for a workshop like no other.

In this online workshop we’ll compare the human brain with artificial intelligence. We’ll do some art activities to explore how each of us perceives visuals, then end with a creative challenge designing an artwork inspired by brains and computers.

To prepare

Grab some drawing materials – pencils, paper, crayons, whatever you have, and download DALL-E – an AI system that can create realistic images.

If you don’t want to sign up for a DALL-E account you can still join in using your normal (real!) drawing materials.
