In urban areas, human development has reduced the natural habitat available to frogs. Help record frog calls to measure frog health and distribution around the nation. Join Karen from Australian Environmental Education to learn about frogs living in your local area and how you can join Australia’s biggest frog count.

Birds are found in every environment around the world, including our very own  Centennial Park. During this program we are going to investigate – what makes a bird, a bird? We will take you on a virtual tour of some of the sites and habitats where birds are found at Centennial Park. How different birds build their nests and raise young. We are then going to take a look at all the interesting, adaptable and amazing things birds can do!

Aunty Kim, a proud Joondaburri saltwater woman, will lead your students through the beautiful Badu wetlands at Sydney Olympic Park, sharing knowledge of Culture. Students will learn how natural resources were used sustainably by First Nations peoples for millennia. Aunty Kim will talk about how weaving is integral to her Culture and show the students a woven eel trap, with a design that was engineered perfectly thousands of years ago, to ensure sustainable fishing! Aunty Kim will finish up by demonstrating the traditional practice of string making and help the students make friendship bracelets. Did you know that we humans depend on them as they help to spread pollen and seeds? Find out many fascinating facts about these incredible animals and how they help us survive! 

Learn more about the habitat provided for the Flying Foxes at Centennial Park, and what we are doing to ensure this vulnerable species thrives here. 

This 30 minute live session delivered by our education rangers will take you on a virtual visit to Centennial Park and introduce you to Centennial Park’s Flying Fox colony.
