School Holidays: Make a Message on A Bottle

Make a Codium fragile model, an important seaweed species found around the rockpools of Sydney. Learn why they are an important part of the ocean ecosystem, and add a message of conservation to your model.

The finished models can be submitted to be part of an installation of up to 1000 Codium models that will be displayed as part of the Inside the Tide exhibition at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney from December 2021.

To make your Codium model you will need:

• A clean empty plastic bottle (soft drink, milk or juice bottle is perfect)
• green water-based paint
• paintbrush
• texta
• scissors

Join the Royal Botanic Gardens on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during the school holidays from 10 am AEDT for a spectacular YouTube Live Stream session! In these virtual sessions, kids will work with a Gardens educator to discover Indigenous foods, native bees, gardening at home and more. Make sure to join in on the fun on the day!
