On Demand – Biosecurity in Our Backyard – Hosted by Costa (Stage 4, Stage 5)
Costa chats with bee experts, scientists and educators as we learn about bee diseases, highlighting the important and varied range of careers and career pathways in Biosecurity.
ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
A live video excursion discussing Australia’s Biosecurity hosted by the flamboyant Costa Georgiadis from the ABC’s Gardening Australia.
Students will be able to participate in a live Q&A with Costa himself as he discusses whats happening today in Australian Biosecurity and how we are working to keep our vast coastline and borders protected from invasive pests and diseases.
With easy access into Australia via travel, imports and even online shopping, we will talk about about current biosecurity pest and disease incursions effecting Australia and also the threats that are being prepared for.
Costa will chat with bee experts, scientist and educators as we follow a bee disease investigation currently effecting our important honey bee industry.
Costa will also interview some of the people working in Biosecurity who are protecting New South Wales $15 billion dollar primary industry sector, highlighting the important and varied range of careers and career pathways in Biosecurity.
