Jane Hunter Keynote Presentation from the STANSW Future Focussed STEM Conference (Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3, Stage 4)

Hear Jane’s thought-provoking lecture which details recent research into NSW public schools on building teacher capacity in integrated STEM. Recorded Live at the 2022 STANSW K-10 Conference, Sydney.
ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
Facing the now with High Possibility STEM Classrooms: Ten directions for success in Australian schools
Based on 4 years of findings from three recent research studies in 14 NSW public schools on building teacher capacity in integrated STEM, the study was funded by groups of principals in a series of school-university partnerships who used inquiry sequences, project-based learning, and design-based challenges to bring the four disciplines of S T E M together. Teacher planning and prioritised timetabling are central to successful STEM in schools and often it was the inclusion of Arts/Humanities subjects that made integration effective. After four years of gathering evidence, a new blueprint for High Possibility STEM Schools emerged. Jane discusses how your school and you as a classroom teacher might move to energise the current and future focus of integrated STEM teaching and learning practice to create more active global learners.
