STORY TIME Tangki Tjuta Donkeys – Story and sculptures by Tjanpi Desert Weavers (Preschool/Early Childhood, Early Stage 1, Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3)

ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
This is a gentle program for families and friends of any age to listen to a lively reading of Tangki Tjuta Donkeys by the Tjanpi Desert Weavers, followed by some colourful hands-on activities.
Tangki Tjuta – Donkeys tells a heartwarming story about how tangki ( donkeys ) came to be in the community of Ernabella. The story which originates from three Anangu women, explains how donkeys became valuable helpers and friends of the community. Told in Pitjantjatjara and English and featuring the whimsical, distinctive sculptures that have made Tjanpi Desert Weavers famous.

Technology and Materials Requirements
This virtual learning program will be delivered via Zoom. Upon booking, you will be sent a link to follow.
To facilitate the best possible experience we require an adult to rename the Zoom connection to appropriately reflect those behind the camera. Booking Name – levels eg. Nolan-Smith Household – 3 kids and 1 parent
We prefer you have your cameras turned on as it assists to aid participant interaction with our shared community.
Pre Event Requirements
We’ll be crafting amazing accessories so come prepared with:
- An A4 size piece of cardboard
- Pencils or textas
- Decorations like foil, cupcake wrappers, washi tape, stickers, magazines for collage, wrapping paper and glitter for a bit of bling!
- Scissors (remember to ask for help with these if you need it!)
- Elastic – about 30cm
- Sticky tape and/or glue
- Maxine’s template [pdf file] printed on paper/cardboard, or a favourite toy and piece of paper/cardboard big enough you can trace around
