Significant Individuals: Quong Tart
Aug

You may never have heard of Quong Tart, yet his story has so much to teach us about the wonders and challenges of life in Australia in the 1800s.
In this virtual excursion we follow Quong Tart’s life journey from his birthplace in China to his tea shop in Sydney, stepping into his shoes to face the tough decisions of his times. Your students have one objective: to uncover five mystery artefacts which will bring Quong Tart’s story to life.
Students engage with original primary source material from the State Library collection and critically question and examine these artefacts to construct a deep understanding of how Quong Tart contributed to the development of Australia and why this is still important to us today.
