ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
In this virtual excursion, you will learn more about this determined woman who changed the lives of many through her problem solving, philanthropy and charitable works.
Follow her journey across continents and uncover the characteristics which enabled her to succeed in a society ruled by men. A woman of vision with a can-do attitude, she was responsible for establishing the Female School of Industry for the Daughters of European Soldiers in Madras and the Female Immigrants home in Sydney. She even set up an employment agency in Australia!
Using collection items from the State Library collections, students will explore life in early Sydney and engage in interactive activities and discussion.
This is a story that will inspire you!
