ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
Are you looking for an innovative way to engage your students in STEAM learning? Join our upcoming professional learning session on the National Game Design Challenge!
In this recoded session, you’ll get an overview of Arludo’s Game Design Challenge, a national competition where students get to design a mobile videogame to test their most pressing science question.
Associate Professor Michael Kasumovic will walk you through every step in the Game Design Challenge including:
- How to register
- How to navigate the dashboard
- How the Challenge is aligned across the curriculum
- The four lesson plans and worksheets
By participating in the Game Design Challenge, your students will have the chance to unleash their creativity while learning STEAM content and skills. The Challenge is free to enter and is open to all primary students between grades 3 – 6 at school in Australia.

Presenter Bio
Michael Kasumovic is an Associate Professor in Evolutionary Biology at UNSW Sydney and the Founder of Arludo. He is an award-winning researcher, science communicator and educator, with a long track record working with students at the university, secondary and primary levels.
His research ultimately gave rise to Arludo in 2015, which has since developed 30 science-based mobile games for educational purposes, with over 300,000 downloads and 10 million scientific data points collected through student gameplay.
Through Arludo, his mission is to increase interest in STEM topics and improve scientific thinking for students of all genders, ages, and socioeconomic levels.
