Faces of their time (Stage 4)
History | Year 7-8
Experience one of our fun, curriculum-focused learning programs live from the National Portrait Gallery, specifically for classroom based learners.
Portrait of Henry Hopkins c. 1845 Thomas Griffiths Wainewright
We have selected portraits from our collection to explore themes of SciFest and celebrate Education Week NSW in historical context.
The interactive portraiture discussion provides opportunities to develop historical understanding through key concepts, including evidence, continuity and change, cause and effect, perspectives, empathy, significance and contestability. These concepts will be investigated within a particular portrait (and its historical context) to facilitate an understanding of the past and to provide a focus for historical inquiries.
