Faces of Feminine Power (Stage 3, Stage 4, Stage 5, Stage 6)
Mar

Celebrate International Women’s Day with the National Museum of Australia!
Join us for an educator lead program exploring feminine power across cultures and through the ages.
ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
Objects in the exhibition represent spiritual and religious beliefs about the feminine, from cultures across the globe and across time to the present day. Even Kylie Minogue’s petite Venus costume makes an appearance!
These cultural representations are organised in relation to 5 key themes: Creation and Nature; Passion and Desire; Magic and Malice; Justice and Defence; Compassion and Salvation.
Taking an inquiry approach, students will reflect on the concepts of femininity, gender, and power, across cultures – including from the perspective of their own cultural positioning.
Students will ultimately reflect on the question: What does feminine power mean to me?
