EmpowerED: Parliament, Process and Participation! (Stage 3, Stage 4)
May
Whether students are exploring The Australian Constitution, Referendums or are aspiring leaders, this interactive workshop will help grow their skills and build knowledge of how our democracy works.
ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
This workshop is designed for students learning about Australian democracy, Student Representative Councils, Student Parliaments and future leaders looking to build their skills and knowledge.
Throughout this experience students will participate in small group work, share ideas and contribute to the collective discussion. They will explore speech writing and how to make positive changes within their school or local community.
We will be joined by special guest Ashleigh Streeter-Jones founder of Raise Our Voices Australia (ROVA). ROVA champions the voices of young Australians by giving them a voice in Parliament and online. As part of this initiative politicians across commit to reading a speech written by a young person aged 25 or under in their state, territory or electorate.
As part of this FREE experience, teachers will be provided with accompanying activity sheets and resources to further support and inspire students as they consider messages they would like to share with others.
