Discovering Shabbat – the holy day of rest (Stage 3)
Jun
It is written in the bible that God rested on the 7th day. The 4th commandment instructs us to ‘remember the Sabbath & keep it holy’. But how are we to remember it? And what ‘keep it holy’ mean?
ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
Shabbat begins Friday sunset and finishes on Saturday night – and is filled with food, symbols, ceremonies and celebrations that form an integral part of Jewish religious and cultural life.
The Sydney Jewish Museum invites your primary students to a complimentary live and interactive Shabbat workshop, facilitated by a Museum Educator. This 45-minute online program will introduce students to the ceremonies and symbolism associated with this important tradition.
