Build a Beast! How genes and inheritance work (Stage 4, Stage 5)

Become the master of dragons by learning all about how genes are passed on to offspring. Explore dominant and recessive traits by breeding dragons to defeat monsters that threaten your home
ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
Do you ever look at families and wonder why they look alike? How do children look like a combination of both their mother and their father? You can learn all about what goes on inside a person to make this mix!
DNA is the building block to all life on this planet and it codes for genes, which are the instructions for how to create an individual! If we can understand how genes work, how they are passed on to offspring and how they create traits, we can unlock the secret to life!
Join Caitlin Dudley, a PhD Research from UQ to experiment with genes and traits to breed different dragons to defeat different monsters in Ormnyr.
Through the game, you can learn all about what a trait is and what it means for traits to be dominant or recessive. We can explore further into sex linked traits, co and incomplete dominance and what is a genotype or phenotype!
Revolutionise how we learn about science and become the master of dragons and genetics through this interactive video game.
