20+ Years On… Relive Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games (Stage 2, Stage 3, Stage 4, Stage 5, Stage 6)

ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
Reflect on a part of our history, as we take a look back at the 2000 Summer Paralympic Games or the XI Summer Paralympics held in Sydney, NSW, Australia between 18 – 29 October 2000.
120 Nations, 3,881 athletes (2,891 on foot, 990 on wheelchairs) & 551 Events in 18 Sports.
Australia ranked 1st with 63 Gold, 39 Silver, 47 Bronze and it’s no wonder having the games in our athlete’s backyard meant many friends and families were able to be present to cheer & witness their kin compete.
To name a few highlights:
• Opening Ceremony, Closing Ceremony
• Day 1 Para-cycling Gold for Matthew Gray + Paul O’Neill teammate wins bronze
• Day 4 Women’s 400m Freestyle S8 Final Gold for Priya Cooper
• Day 7 Women’s 1500m T54 final Gold for Louise Sauvage
• Day 10 Men’s 800m T54 Final Silver for Kurt Fearnley
