Join us for an illuminating talk that delves into the artistry and innovation behind crafting music for virtual worlds. With a deep understanding of both gaming and musical intricacies, Dan will unravel the secrets of how music elevates gameplay, evokes emotions, and creates immersive experiences. First Nations | Foundation – Year 2 

This interactive session for Foundation to Year 2 students utilises a variety of portraits of and by First Nations people in the National Portrait Gallery’s collection to explore questions such as why people make art, the techniques they utilise and cultural significance.

Fusing technology & movement, students will develop their visual storytelling skills and collaborate with a live artist to create a movement-based animation. Year 3 – S2 Year 4 – S2 Year 5 – S3 Year 6 – S3 Making a Music Video: with Motion Capture – Interactive Workshop 22nd August ’24 2pm session The team are all here at the Sydney Opera House to create a new music video, but there’s one key role missing….the choreographer! Luckily our students have shown up online to take on this important role.
With the help of the motion capture performers, the students are guided through making the artistic decisions to create a music video. They will engage in movement activities to uncover the story they want to tell and decide how they can capture that story through visual storytelling.
Students will be introduced to all the key people in their team. They will experience how to create a dance piece, both from a production and creative perspective.
At the end, we’ll capture your best moves, fusing our technology with your creativity. But will the music video sink or soar? The creative team will decide!
For the best experience we recommend no more than 30 students per booking

Celebrate Science Week a wild chat with Steve Mushin, author of UltraWild, a groundbreaking graphic novel that unveils scientifically plausible ways to heal our planet and fight climate change. Year 5 – S3 Year 6 – S3 Year 7 – S4 Year 8 – S4 Year 9 – S5 Year 10 – S5 Digital Schools Talk with Steve Mushin (Available on Demand from 12th August until 23rd August) Steve Mushin is an industrial designer, artist and inventor who collaborates with scientists and engineers to solve perplexing problems that no one else seems to know what to do about – like what can be done with explosive cow gas or how to make bikes fly or cities transform into jungles as fast as possible. Steve has exhibited large-scale design drawings and models around Australia and in Japan. He works between Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, and in 2015 received an Australian Design Honours award for his work in sustainable futures thinking. Ultrawild is Steve’s first book.

Developed over seven years, Ultrawild is an optimistic book about creative thinking, science, technology, engineering and maths and the potential for massive change. Filled with laugh-out-loud design-ridiculousness, it aims to empower and excite a new generation of designers, scientists, engineers and ultra-wild creative thinkers.

Steve Mushin’s blend of serious science and joyful playfulness is bound to ignite your students’ imaginations and empower them to be a part of Earth’s ultimate comeback story!

About the AVA Challenge
This is a FREE 9-step STEM design sprint based on challenges facing NASA’s Artemis and the Australian space industry. Hear space industry speakers & choose from several STEM design sprints based on challenges facing the Australian space industry.

AVA teams will choose from a set of six scenarios and design a solution presented in the form of either a 90-second video pitch or poster. A number of teams will then be selected to pitch their ideas at the Young Space Explorers event in December in Sydney!

Our oceans play a vital role in our everyday lives. They provide us with countless benefits, from regulating our climate to providing us with food and recreation. In fact, the ocean economy contributes $1.5 trillion annually and is set to double by 2030, highlighting just how valuable and important our oceans truly are.

But it’s important to remember that with our increasing demands, we need to take action to protect our oceans. For World Oceans Day join marine scientist Vinuri Silva who works first hand with marine plastic pollution to understand it’s impact on our ocean and learn about the actions that individuals can take to reduce plastic pollution and ensure a healthy ocean ecosystem for generations to come.
