Young Space Explorers Webinar

Find out about space careers! The Young Space Explorers webinar is a companion event for the New Space Workforce initiative. Year 7 – S4 Year 8 – S4 Year 9 – S5 Year 10 – S5 Year 11 – S6 Year 12 – S6 Young Space Explorers Webinar During the Young Space Explorers face to face event on the 2nd December a NSW Department of Education film crew will capture different aspects of the event. There will be vox pops and interviews with space industry professionals, students, teachers and will have highlights from the activities that occur on the day. The webinar will be hosted by Careers with STEM and will involve students from the Hunter School of the Performing Arts.

This video will be used as part of the Young Space Explorers webinar, but will also include a space industry panel, a space quiz, Q and A session and much more. Students will be able to interact online with members of the space industry as part of this exciting event.

We will keep you up to date with the expert panel which will include some surprises.

Join their marine educators to gain an understanding of the biology and adaptations of sea turtles. Join Aunty Kim for a yarn, a wetland wander, and traditional string making to create your very own friendship bracelet!
Aunty Kim, a proud Joondaburri saltwater woman, will lead your students through the beautiful Badu wetlands at Sydney Olympic Park, sharing knowledge of Culture. Students will learn how natural resources were used sustainably by First Nations peoples for millennia. Aunty Kim will talk about how weaving is integral to her Culture and show the students a woven eel trap, with a design that was engineered perfectly thousands of years ago, to ensure sustainable fishing! Aunty Kim will finish up by demonstrating the traditional practice of string making and help the students make friendship bracelets. In teams, learners will work in a coding unplugged game with Scratch as they look at how robots learn to explore hostile worlds such as Mars.

Then Stage 1-3 dives into their specific content, causes of day and night, Earth’s relationship with the Sun, Earth’s place in our Solar System.

Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! with Dhunghutti Humpty

Live Classroom event for Early Learning and Kindergarten. Sing and learn what Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! means in Aboriginal Language with the Dhunghutti Humpty. Preschool/Early Childhood Kinder – ES1 Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! with Dhunghutti Humpty This 40 minute program invites teachers to join a live event where Aboriginal artist and educator, Dorsey Smith – along with his co-host Jo Tuscano teach children how to sing in Dhunghutti.

The children learn how Dhunghutti Humpty Dumpty fell out of the tree and how it was Humpty’s mob who showed up to help him get up and stand up and be put back together again.

The children learn Aboriginal words in Dhunghutti, they learn the meaning of falling and breaking and then getting up and showing up again. They learn it is a team effort. This is a fun event involving storytelling, ceremony, art, symbolism, metaphor and song. It is a fusion of western and Aboriginal storytelling.
