They’ll look at aspects of biography, identity, and culture; discover different styles, mediums and movements; and learn through discussion, activity and drawing.

Our oceans play a vital role in our everyday lives. They provide us with countless benefits, from regulating our climate to providing us with food and recreation. In fact, the ocean economy contributes $1.5 trillion annually and is set to double by 2030, highlighting just how valuable and important our oceans truly are.

But it’s important to remember that with our increasing demands, we need to take action to protect our oceans. For World Oceans Day join marine scientist Vinuri Silva who works first hand with marine plastic pollution to understand it’s impact on our ocean and learn about the actions that individuals can take to reduce plastic pollution and ensure a healthy ocean ecosystem for generations to come.

In this session you’ll discover diverse ecosystems across the globe and delve into environmental concerns like climate change, pollution and waste, and the decline of nature and biodiversity with Grace Blackburn, a Biologist and PhD candidate at the University of Western Australia. Grace will also explore practical steps that you can take in your home and local area that will help protect the environment.

This session aims to inspire positive change and foster a sense of responsibility towards our natural surroundings, for a better and greener future for all. Kinder – ES1 Year 1 – S1 Year 2 – S1 Year 3 – S2 Year 4 – S2 Year 5 – S3 Year 6 – S3 Digital Schools Talk with David Booth and Gigi Beretta (Primary Schools) (Available on Demand from 5th June until 19th June) Professor David Booth and Giglia “Gigi” Beretta are Marine Ecologists at the University of Technology Sydney. In May 2019, they worked on installing a modular artificial reef along the Opera House sea wall as part of a research project to restore marine habitats and rebalance biodiversity around Bennelong Point.

Both passionate advocates for the environment, David and Gigi will share their journeys in preserving our planet, discuss their careers, the artificial reef and the way that the arts and science have come together for this project to empower the next generation to become eco-conscious leaders.

If your students have a question they would like to ask, you will have the opportunity to record it and send it in for David or Gigi to answer on the day. Questions must be sent no later than 14 March 2024. Further instructions on how to do this will be sent to you upon booking. The Art of Place

The Art of Place is an interactive & thought-provoking session examining how we can understand & connect to place through art & how place can mean different things for different people. Year 3 – S2 Year 4 – S2 Year 5 – S3 Year 6 – S3 The Art of Place Reconciliation Week will see our first free Live Event for 2024 – The Art of Place.  The live event will take place at the Museum of Sydney, which exits on the site of First Government House, on Gadigal land.

During this interactive and thought-provoking session your students will consider how we can understand and connect to place through art and how a place can mean different things, for different people.

We will investigate the museum’s place-based art and explore the current exhibition ‘Art of Place’, created by the Coomaditchie United Aboriginal Corporation.
Draw on historic records from the NSW State Archives, contemporary First Nations perspectives and archaeology to address the significance and the contested nature of the site.
Learn about a range of different techniques, which can be used to create art.
Finish the session with a creative arts activity – providing a framework to students so they can develop an artwork about a place and what it means to them. Fusing technology & movement, students will develop their visual storytelling skills and collaborate with a live artist to create a movement-based animation. Year 7 – S4 Year 8 – S4 Making a Music Video: with Motion Capture – Interactive Workshop 22nd May ’24 2pm high school session The team are all here at the Sydney Opera House to create a new music video, but there’s one key role missing….the choreographer! Luckily our students have shown up online to take on this important role.
With the help of the motion capture performers, the students are guided through making the artistic decisions to create a music video. They will engage in movement activities to uncover the story they want to tell and decide how they can capture that story through visual storytelling.
Students will be introduced to all the key people in their team. They will experience how to create a dance piece, both from a production and creative perspective.
At the end, we’ll capture your best moves, fusing our technology with your creativity. But will the music video sink or soar? The creative team will decide!
For the best experience we recommend no more than 30 students per booking
