SciFest 2023: Beneath the Sea with ROVs

Join us as we look at some Remote Controlled Vehicles (ROVs) and get a glimpse into what they find beneath the waves around the Maritime Museum and beyond. SciFest 2023: The Wonderful Water Quiz

Join the Australian National Maritime Museum as we splash into this water themed science quiz! Test your scientific knowledge this National Science Week! Year 3 – S2 Year 4 – S2 Year 5 – S3 Year 6 – S3 Year 7 – S4 Year 8 – S4 SciFest 2023: The Wonderful Water Quiz We challenge anyone in years 3-6 to test your knowledge about our oceans and learn some fun facts along the way. The quiz will cover different categories including; Our Oceans, Ocean Animals and Ocean Environments.

To play the quiz, students will need to visit www.kahoot.it  or download the Kahoot! App. They will then be asked to enter the code provided at the start of the session.  Students can participate as individuals or in teams, either from school or home.

Join us and Adam as he chats about his practice, journalistic themes and being a finalist in the National Photographic Portrait Prize five times.

Adam Ferguson first gained recognition for his work in 2009 when he embarked on a survey of the US-led war in Afghanistan, working as a photojournalist on assignment for Time Magazine, The New York Times and National Geographic. In the years since, he has worked internationally documenting the consequences of geopolitical conflicts on civilian populations.

Arludo Science Week: Marine Science

Join Arludo’s marine scientist for Science Week ocean fun! Year 3 – S2 Year 4 – S2 Year 5 – S3 Year 6 – S3 Year 7 – S4 Year 8 – S4 Year 9 – S5 Year 10 – S5 Arludo Science Week: Marine Science Our oceans play a vital role in our everyday lives. They provide us with countless benefits, from regulating our climate to providing us with food and recreation. In fact, the ocean economy contributes $1.5 trillion annually and is set to double by 2030, highlighting just how valuable and important our oceans truly are.

But it’s important to remember that with our increasing demands, we need to take action to protect our oceans. This Science Week join marine scientist Vinuri Silva who works first hand with marine plastic pollution to understand it’s impact on our ocean and learn about the actions that individuals can take to reduce plastic pollution and ensure a healthy ocean ecosystem for generations to come.

By joining this session, you’ll learn more about the modern reality of our oceans and gain a deeper appreciation for how important they are to our wellbeing. SciFest 2023: In their Element

SciFest 2023 is the biggest virtual excursions festival in Australia promoting science and technology. Year 7 – S4 Year 8 – S4 Year 9 – S5 Year 10 – S5 SciFest 2023: In their Element Bring the periodic table to life in this interactive online lesson. Students see real samples of common elements, learn about their history, properties and uses, and find out how the periodic table was developed during the 19th century. Students review atomic structure, elements and the organisation of today’s periodic table, before applying their knowledge and skills in a fun periodic table game.
