Climate Solutions. Making clouds to protect the Great Barrier Reef

How can scientists make clouds to protect the Great Barrier Reef? Year 4 – S2 Year 5 – S3 Year 6 – S3 Year 7 – S4 Climate Solutions. Making clouds to protect the Great Barrier Reef As part of the Powerhouses 100 Climate Conversations weekly podcast, selected innovators have presented simple positive messages to schools about what can be done to save our planet.

Meet the oceanographer Dr Daniel HARRISON from Southern Cross University and discover how his team is working to produce clouds to protect the Great Barrier Reef by spraying tiny drops of seawater into the atmosphere. But why? Coral reefs may be the first ecosystem to completely collapse if we do not address climate change. Nearly 20% of all marine life spend some of their life in these reefs and we must protect of help them adapt. While not a permanent solution, it may give us 10-20 years to solve the looming disaster of coral bleaching.

This is an edited recording of an interview on Friday 22 October 2022 from the Powerhouse.
