The Regional Industry Education Partnerships (RIEP) program creates connections between industry and secondary schools to support students in planning their future career pathways. Contacts with businesses while at school make a difference to the employment prospects of young people.

Local RIEP project officers can help you by:

  • working with school staff on initiatives that engage local industries
  • working with local businesses to facilitate their access to local schools
  • facilitating activities where employers can communicate with, and inspire, students
  • providing industry validated career information to support school staff, including career advisers
  • providing resources for schools and businesses to build capacity in establishing and maintaining partnerships.

There are many ways that businesses can effectively engage with local schools.

For example:

  • Structured workplace site tours
  • Interactive career expos
  • Business information sessions or presentations to support subject selection
  • Work preparation activities and guidance about employer expectations
  • Providing applied workplace examples to enhance school curriculum
  • Mock interviews or speed networking sessions
  • Mentoring or coaching students
  • Providing work experience or work placement opportunities
  • Taking on School Based Apprentices or Trainees
