Join us on a journey from the wetlands of Sydney’s east to the scrub and woodlands of Sydney’s west to discover the plants and animals that call Australia’s biggest city home!

Greater Sydney Parklands invites children around the country (5-10 years) and their adult friends and teachers to join our virtual quest From Swamp to Scrub!

Navigate your way through the wetlands of Sydney’s famous Centennial Park to the woodlands and scrub of Sydney’s biggest backyard, Western Sydney Parklands by joining in explosive science shows, habitat tours, park game experiments, and collecting important information for your journey from expert interviews.

By the end of your journey, kids and their adult friends and teachers will know:

  • Who was Australia’s dinosaur
  • Which backyard weeds can be turned into a yummy salad
  • How to find fancy delicacies in the Australian bush
  • Which nocturnal superhero animals only come out at night
  • Snugglepot and Cuddlepie’s important job to disperse seeds across our country
  • Plus much more!

With activities on screen and away from the computer, From Swamp to Scrub will introduce kids to the expansive variety of science, teach them important skills, and show them the fun they can have with science!

This initiative is supported by the Australian Government as part of National Science Week, an annual celebration that excites the inner scientists in all of us.
