Essential Energy builds, operates and maintains the electricity network across 95 per cent of New South Wales and parts of southern Queensland. The business maintains and develops the infrastructure – the poles and wires – that delivers power to more than 880,000 homes and businesses, 170 hospitals and 1,250 schools.

As part of our commitment to safety, we deliver the Electricity Safety Week (ESW) program, in collaboration with Primary Communications. The program raises awareness of the hazards associated with electricity and teaches students how to be safe around electricity. The resources have been developed in collaboration with the Department of Education to meet the Science and Technology and PDHPE curriculum requirements for years K – 6.

Schools who register for the program are sent a supporting resource pack to help deliver classroom activities, which includes safety posters and material, a simple circuit kit, competitions, student prizes and more.
