Light and Colour: The power to create and influence mood with ACTF and ACMI (Early Stage 1, Stage 1)

Students discover the importance of light and colour from animated episodes that brighten our world!
ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
Students will learn that light and colour are used as tools for storytelling in television and film. Our ACTF and ACMI hosts will guide students in considering the creative decisions behind happy, scary, funny, and sad moments on screen.
Drawing and kinetic pose activities will be built into the workshop to bring students along as active participants.
Here’s some questions to help warmup and assist students to focus on the topic prior to watching the workshop video:
- If the animated story is set on a bright sunny summer’s day, how would you feel?
- When a dark shadow is cast over a characters face, what type of mood is created?
- What might the warm colours (reds, oranges and yellows) mean in an animated story?
- Can you think of how magic could be added to a story using colour and light?
*Once booked in you will receive the necessary details to access the 23 minute video and page with the packaged learning resources.
