Saving up to buy a car – Great!
Now, can you afford the running costs too?
So, how much does buying and running a car really cost?
Take this challenge and find out.
ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
Kai’s family are thinking about buying another car. The car they have now is nearing the end of its life and is not so reliable. It’s been a long time since they bought their last family car and they would like to purchase a reliable car, perhaps even a new one. There are a lot of choices when it comes to buying a car, and Kai wants to play a part in the decision-making process!
To help with this big decision, Kai will need to:
- understand the real costs of owning cars
- learn about savings goals and budgets
- evaluate the options and make an informed recommendation
You’ll use the interactive, digital calculators in this challenge to figure out what it really costs to own a car. Then you’ll calculate a savings plan for Kai to help him reach his goal. Finally, You’ll need to write a convincing argument that will persuade Kai to choose the right car for the needs of his family.
