This interactive and virtual History Site Study covers the Stage 3 History topic ‘The Australian Colonies’. Students will visit various places in the Rocks Sydney, to learn about significant people, places and events in Australia’s colonial history. Experienced DoE history teachers will guide students through the webinar, including an exploration of The Australian Colonies inquiry questions:

  • What do we know about the lives of Australia people in our colonial past and how do we know?
  • How did an Australian colony develop over time and why?
  • How did colonial settlement change the environment?
  • What were the significant events and who were the significant people that shaped Australian colonies?

The webinar takes the form of a fun, history site study into early colonial history in The Rocks, and features engaging information, student learning polls, crosses to an historian at specific sites, and history journal activities to complete whilst participating. A comprehensive student website supports the webinar, and provides additional post webinar learning opportunities. The webinar follows DoE online safety protocols.
