Learn about the life and art of one of the most influential European modernists, Vasily Kandinsky, in a live online presentation based on the exhibition Kandinsky.
Bring the Art Gallery of New South Wales and our special exhibitions to your classroom with online regional connect.
Secondary visual arts students from regional, rural and remote schools in NSW are invited to join us online for a presentation dedicated to Vasily Kandinsky.
What is Vasily Kandinsky’s contribution to the invention of European abstract art? How did he intend for his paintings to be understood? During the one-hour live session held via Zoom, you’ll hear from Art Gallery staff about the life and art of one of the most influential European modernists. Together we unpack key artworks in the exhibition to understand the development of Kandinsky’s practice and the context in which they were made. Reflecting on the artist’s art and ideas, students learn about the origins of the abstract art and the ways in which it can be interpreted.
This program is free and open to all regional, rural and remote schools in NSW.
