A Virtual Week in Canberra 2022 – Old Country, Young Nation (Stage 3)

A virtual program that uses archival records to tell stories of Australian Federation. Students view the original Constitution and discover stories of Indigenous protest and activism.
ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
National Archives of Australia (National Archives) invites you and your students on a virtual excursion to our National office in Canberra.
National Archives holds close to 42 million government records, created from 1901 to the present day. Every one of our records tells a story about Australia and its people.
On this virtual excursion you will:
- Learn more about the work of National Archives, including our role as a ‘time capsule for Australia’;
- Enter our Voices gallery to view important foundational documents, including the original Australian Constitution;
- Discover records that tell stories of Indigenous protest and activism, and consider their enduring significance today;
- Reflect on the Constitution as a living document that has changed since Federation and can continue to change into the future.
After making a booking you will receive a YouTube link.
You will need to view the session before midnight Friday September 23rd.
