Objects of Separation at the Hyde Park Barracks (Stage 2, Stage 3)
May

Join us during Reconciliation Week for Objects of Separation at the Hyde Park Barracks to explore stories of migration and forced separation – a theme that carries through Australian history.
ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
Inspired by the new digital artwork Murmurations, created by First Nations artist, Tony Albert and Sāmoan– Australian artist Angela Tiatia, this live virtual program will explore stories of migration and forced separation – a theme that carries through Australian history.
Focusing on evocative objects of separation from the Hyde Park Barracks collection, students will have the opportunity to explore the theme migration through the lived experiences of Gadi peoples, convicts, and female migrants. The session will end with the students making an object of their own, a convict love token, with a message of separation or of healing for Reconciliation week.
