
Lighting – Series of 4 (Stage 4, Stage 5, Stage 6)

This series takes students through the basics of lighting and its effect for the stage including a focus on colour, shape and shadow.
ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
Lesson 1. Introduction to Lighting. Takes students through the basics of lighting and its effect for the stage including a focus on colour, shape and shadow. Duration: 13:37
Lesson 2. Basics of lighting technology. Learn about the different types of lights and how to use them as well as insights into creating colour, different types of fixtures and some basic knowledge about the pros and cons of using LED and conventional lights. Duration: 15:49
Lesson 3. Developing a lighting design. In this module we take what we have learnt in the previous two lighting modules and now work with an actor in the space to see how we use lighting to enhance performance. We also consider how to combine effects and lighting moments into a design vision for a piece. Duration: 15:50
Lesson 4. Communicating a Design. In this episode we will cover the documentation and communication of lighting designs, discussing lighting plans, cue sheets and the role of the stage manager. Duration: 14:08
