Investigating History: Did convicts break the rules?
Nov

Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity for Stage 2 and Stage 3 History.
During this engaging and student-centered Live Virtual Event, your class will explore the World Heritage-listed Hyde Park Barracks and examine a range of historical sources – physical and documentary – as part of an historical inquiry.
Museum staff will show off some of the archaeology that has been found at the site, explain the role rats played in preserving different artefacts, and present some documentary evidence, that relates to the convicts.
Then, once all the evidence is presented, your class will have the opportunity to decide – did the convicts who lived at the Barracks break the rules?
Students will also hear stories from a convict (not a real one just to be clear), and meet the Deputy Superintendent of the Barracks.
