Harmony Day Writing Workshop with author Yvette Poshoglian (Stage 2, Stage 3)

Celebrate Harmony Day 2022 with bestselling author and teacher Yvette Poshoglian!
ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
Yvette will explore themes in her new book Dear Greta and then get students writing about what Harmony Day means to them and across the community! Students will also explore the idea ‘everyone belongs’.
Yvette will introduce her new book called Dear Greta which explores themes of Harmony Day, community, multicultural identity, languages, friendship, STEM and more
Yvette explores her own multicultural background and how it informs her writing
Yvette will talk about her writing life and get students in the creative mode
There will be three writing prompts to get students creating, writing and exploring Harmony Day
Yvette has written over forty books for children and younger readers including the bestselling Ella and Olivia series. Yvette is also a secondary English teacher who has worked widely across K-12 English. Recently, Yvette was the NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge officer and now works for the NSW Department of Education in the Technology 4 Learning team.

Presenter Bio
Yvette’s new book is nearly here – Dear Greta launches into the world in March 2022! It’s for readers 8+.
Yvette Poshoglian is the bestselling author of over 40 books for children and young readers. She writes the wildly popular Ella and Olivia series (30 books + 6 treasuries and counting!), the Puppy Diary books and the Frankie Fox Girl Spy stories, and has written historical fiction including My Australian Story: Escape from Cockatoo Island.
Yvette has worked as an English teacher in south west Sydney and consults on educational projects. Yvette works with the Technology 4 Learning team at the NSW Department of Education. She recently worked on Everyone’s an Author, a digital creative writing program featuring 10 Aussie authors.
Yvette is a regular guest and panel host at writers’ festivals and continues to work in schools with both students and teachers in the area of creative writing, storytelling and literacy. She is proud to be an ambassador for the Books in Homes charity.
