Grades 3-6 (Mid-Upper Primary) Intro to Kids Helpline Recording (Stage 2, Stage 3)
Our evidence-informed sessions have been created for students to improve mental health literacy and to provide information on support options available to young people.
Presented by Brooke, an accredited Kids Helpline counsellor who is an expert in her field. Students can see a Kids Helpline counsellor and put a face to Australia’s only free, private, and confidential 24/7 phone and online counselling service for young people aged 5 to 25.
ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
Our evidence-informed Middle – Upper Primary video sessions provide a safe space to discuss mental health literacy and encourages help-seeking behaviours in grade 3-6 school aged children.
These video sessions can offer students a positive first experience of mental health services, which may help to overcome some common barriers to help-seeking, such as demystifying, reducing stigma and normalising counselling.
In this 15 minute video students will learn:
- Meet a real life Kids Helpline counsellor you can contact for support
- Understand how to contact Kids Helpline for support
- Understand the role of Kids Helpline and counsellors
- Overcome barriers to help seeking
- Normalise help seeking
