Going Places at Kamay – Virtual lesson on Zoom (Stage 1)

Fly into Kamay Botany Bay. See the natural & human features of a garden & draw a fantasy garden map. Students make a nature map based on their fantasy garden.
ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
Going places flies us into Kamay Kurnell Botany Bay. Students see the land and sea from a bird’s eye perspective. Students learn about maps. What makes a place special to them? Students look at the natural and human features of a garden and are inspired to draw a fantasy garden map. They make a nature map, using natural and everyday materials, based on their fantasy garden.
During the lesson Stage 1 students will:
Identify features of a garden and design an ideal garden
Learn how to add leaf impressions to a nature journal
Learn how to use a compass
Create a nature map using natural materials
This lesson explores concepts and practices through a variety of educational, fun, and hands-on activities, using an interactive platform with NSW Department of Education Environmental Education teachers.

Payment Instructions
An interschool journal or purchase order will be emailed to you upon your registration, along with the teacher pack of information. Payment will be processed prior to the event.

Our school holds limited seating, and many of our classes sell out. For this reason, we request that you cancel at least 72 hours before your scheduled lesson. This will allow us to offer your spot to another school.

Technology and Materials Requirements
The virtual lesson will be via Zoom. Once the booking is confirmed a link to Zoom will be sent.
One class (up to 30 students) can join a session at 9:30am, 11:30am or 1:30pm. Having a maximum of 30 students maintains the interactive and hands on nature of the virtual lesson. When booking please use the individual classroom teacher email contact.
For schools of less than 20 students a discounted fee will apply.
Once a booking has been made a teacher pack will be emailed with pre and post activities. The pack will contain details of equipment needed for the Zoom session.
Teachers will need a whiteboard, laptop, webcam or tablet to access the Zoom lesson.
