Gallipoli: in their words (Stage 5)

Delve into the State Library’s rich World War I collection to discover the lived experience of those who served at Gallipoli.
ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
In this interactive virtual excursion, students will explore diaries written by soldiers at Gallipoli to gain an understanding of the nature of warfare and everyday life on the peninsular. These first-hand accounts will be brought to life by accompanying sources, from the State Library’s vast WWI collection. Students will also explore the usefulness of war diaries as sources when conducting an historical investigation into the nature of warfare at Gallipoli.

Technology and Materials Requirements
This virtual excursion will be held online via Zoom. You will be sent the link to join with your booking confirmation.
Students can connect to our virtual excursions when learning from home. As a teacher, you will only need to register once to receive a link you can share with your students.
During the session, students will be able to ask questions by writing in the chat and they will not share any audio or video. All messages will be visible to the presenters but not to any other students.
When students use the link to join the virtual excursion they may be asked to download Zoom if they don’t already have it installed. They do not need to set up a Zoom account to participate.
