First Contacts at Kamay – virtual lesson on Zoom

During the virtual lesson students will:
Learn about Dharawal life and culture for the first inhabitants before Cook’s arrival at Kamay
Participate in a role play to understand some of the significant events when James Cook sailed into Botany Bay in 1770
Work as a botanist or botanical artist to create a drawing just as Solander and Parkinson did in 1770
The lesson will be hands-on, educational, fun and interactive. Lessons will be presented by Environmental Education teachers.

Our school holds limited seating, and many of our classes sell out. For this reason, we request that you cancel at least 72 hours before your scheduled lesson. This will allow us to offer your spot to another School.

Technology and Materials Requirements
The virtual lesson will be via Zoom. Once the booking is confirmed a link to Zoom will be sent.
One class (up to 30 students) can join a session at 9:30am, 11:30am or 1:30pm. Having a maximum of 30 students maintains the interactive and hands on nature of the virtual lesson. When booking please use the individual classroom teacher email contact.
For schools of less than 20 students a discounted fee will apply.
Once a booking has been made a teacher pack will be emailed with pre and post activities. The pack will contain details of equipment needed for the Zoom session.
Teachers will need a whiteboard, laptop, webcam or tablet to access the Zoom lesson.
