A Museum educator-led program where students investigate the struggle for Indigenous civil and political rights and freedoms in Australia, by exploring themes of rights, equality, and freedom.
ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
Students will:
Investigate the evolution of Indigenous rights in Australia.
Understand some of the campaigns for rights developed by Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
Recognise how Australian history and major global movements shared strategies in the struggle for rights and freedoms.
Explore the concepts of rights, freedoms and equality.
Analyse evidence in history through narratives and object analysis.
Identify key people involved in the struggle for Indigenous rights and the issues they faced.
Discuss the significance of the development of Indigenous rights in Australia.
