Discovering Shabbat, the Holy Day of Rest (Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3)
Jun

What is Shabbat? And what Jewish traditions are observed? Join this free live workshop, to learn about the ceremonies and symbolism of the Jewish Sabbath.
ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
It is written in the bible that God rested on the seventh day, and the fourth commandment instructs us to “remember the Sabbath and keep it holy”. But how exactly are we to remember it? And what does “keep it holy” actually mean?
Shabbat begins at Friday sunset and finishes on Saturday night, a time filled with food, symbols, ceremonies and celebrations that form an integral part of Jewish religious and cultural life.
