Discover Sharks is an interactive and highly engaging hands-on workshop taught by scientists. Take your students on an immersive adventure into the world of sharks.

- How can you tell if a shark is male or female?
- How many teeth do sharks have?
- How do sharks breathe?
- How many fins does a shark have?
- Shark physiology and anatomy, what does it’s skin feels like?
- Sharks life cycle and threats, do they lay eggs or give birth?
Find out about sharks through the ages and ocean conservation. Face to Face – Available to Primary schools in the Newcastle, Hunter Valley, Sydney areas.

Hollie is a studying environmental scientist majoring in Biodiversity and Conservation, she is also the owner of The School of Earth Australia. Hollie has loved sharks since she was a little girl and has spent much of her childhood and adult life learning about these amazing ocean predators.
Phoebe, like Hollie, is Shark mad! Phoebe worked hands-on with sharks and rays for many years and brings her knowledge and first-hand experience with elasmobranchs to the students.
Together, Hollie and Phoebe bring infectious energy and passion to the students and take them on an immersive and hands-on adventure.

All workshops/events are quoted on an individual basis to ensure that we are meeting your needs and requirements. Prices vary depending on the number of workshops, the number of students per workshop and whether the workshop will be delivered online or face-to-face. All quotes will be sent via email. Once a quote has been accepted it will be converted to an invoice. We kindly ask that 100% of the invoice be paid by the due date on the invoice. Invoices must be paid in full before the scheduled event/experience commences.

Cancellation Policy
We understand that sometimes, unexpected circumstances can occur. If you need to cancel your booking, we respectfully request at least 14 days’ notice. This gives us the opportunity to give the spot to another customer and inform our education staff of the change. Cancellations made 14 days or more in advance will receive a 100% refund. Cancellations made within 7 days of the scheduled event/workshops will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made within less than 7 days of the booked event/workshop will not receive a refund. However, we will credit your payment towards another event/workshop. To cancel please email us at [email protected] or call us on 0408 925 423.
If you would like to reschedule your booking, we respectfully request at least 14 days’ notice. Rescheduling will not incur any additional costs.
Presenter Bio
Hollie studies a Bachelor of Science majoring in Biodiversity and Conservation. Hollies’ mission is to support children around the globe in advancing their scientific knowledge and help them positively engage with the natural world. Hollie is The School of Earth’s owner, content creator and in-house graphic designer. She creates all the School’s imaginative, colourful learning materials and experiences. Hollie is a huge shark lover and has been learning about our bendy-boned friends for many years!

More Information About This Event
Discover Sharks is an interactive and highly engaging hands-on workshop that is taught by two of our passionate in-house Scientists, Hollie and Phoebe. Discover Sharks has been to Westfield shopping centre where it was a HUGE hit! and it is now available to Primary schools in the Newcastle, Hunter Valley and Sydney areas.
Take your students on an immersive marine adventure into the world of sharks. We will take a look at a famous prehistoric shark and discuss how sharks have evolved over 500 million years. We will learn about the anatomy and physiology of sharks, from their teeth to the tiny scales that cover their bodies! We will compare how tall we are to a baby White shark. We will take a look at the role that these apex predators play within ecosystems and raise our awareness of some of the threats they currently face.
