Discussing topics of First Nations, Creativity, Indigenous Languages and Autism, join authors Jordan Gould and Richard Pritchard as they talk about their adventure story, Wylah: The Koorie Warrior


ACTIVITY OUTLINE:

In this live stream interview, we speak to authors Jordan Gould and Richard Pritchard about their adventure story Wylah, inspired by First Nations history and grounded in culture. We’ll learn more about the process of creating the book including their consultations with First Nations women and Kickstarter campagin and the inspirations for their characters including Poe who provides a role model for youth living with autism spectrum disorder.

The talk will conclude with the Richard and Jordan teaching viewers in schools an indigenous language song.

If your students have a question that they would like to ask, you will have the opportunity to record it and send it in for  to answer on the day. Questions must be emailed no later than 25th February 2023. Further instructions on how to do this will be sent to you upon booking.

Jordan Gould is a Peek Whurrong man from Warrnambool, Victoria. He performs welcome to country ceremonies at corporate and private gatherings. He is passionate about teaching and talking to groups about culture, language and reconciliation.

Richard Pritchard – a New Zealand-born Samoan man – has had a dream of writing books since he was a teenager. His passion for visual storytelling has led him to work in film, animation, commercials and video games. He has worked on feature films such as The Great Gatsby, Happy Feet, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Prometheus as a visual effects artist. Presented in association with NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge Department of Education
