Cultural Burning for Resilience- A Mini Documentary (Stage 4, Stage 5, Stage 6)

What is cultural burning? How can fire heal Country? A group of high school students attended a three day cultural workshop on Yuin Country to learn about cultural practices.


ACTIVITY OUTLINE:

Students and teachers will gain an insight into the importance of Cultrual Burning to improve the health of Country.

Hear about the experiences of high school students as they learnt and participated in traditional burning of the environment and the making of some traditional tools.

Traditionally fire is used by First Nations people to improve the health of Country and its people. It has been used for over 60,000 years to manage land, plants and animals.
