This interactive webinar focuses on significant celebrations and commemorations in Australia using a history site study of the Rocks Sydney


ACTIVITY OUTLINE:

The webinar takes the form of a fun, historical investigation into Australia’s early colonial history in The Rocks through engaging information, specific site studies and history journal activities. A comprehensive student website supports the webinar, and provides additional learning opportunities.

Learning Intentions & Success Criteria

Learning Intention: To understand the terms Community and Remembrance by exploring monuments, places etc in The Rocks Sydney that remind us of important, people, places and events.

Success criteria: Students will understand:

  • significant celebrations and commemorations in Australia
  • examples of things that commemorate important people, places and events in our history with a focus on The Rocks
  • how important people, groups and events changed a local community (The Rocks) over time
  • how and why people choose to remember significant events of the past.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations need to be made within 1 week of the date of the webinar or a cancellation fee $30.00 per class will be charged.

Participants require internet and Zoom access.

Pre Event Requirements

Teachers should download a copy of the History Webinar Journal for each student.

This webinar is designed to be booked by a class teacher and can cater for multiple classes. A comprehensive support website is available online with additional History Journal activities to extend student learning.
