Bush Craft: Whittling

Learn the ancient art of whittling – carving from wood. Join Ranger Alasdair online and he will guide you step by step on how to safely cut wood from a living tree or shrub and turn it into a butter knife or wooden spoon. You will learn the skills of cutting, carving, sanding and oiling to make your own very unique cutlery for everyday use. Imagine bragging to your friends and family about making your own utensils! Full safety instructions will be given in the video, along with a worksheet and simple equipment list.
Recommended Ages 8 years and over.
Skills: Whittling, Carving, Wood Selection and Survival.
This 30-minute session will be held live on Zoom. You will need internet access and the Zoom app to participate in this session. Two days prior to the program, we will email you the Zoom link, plus a worksheet and a list of items so you can be ready to do the activities during or immediately after the session if you wish.
