Australian War Memorial: What does Remembrance Day mean? (Stage 2, Stage 3, Stage 4)
Nov

Have you ever gathered for Remembrance Day at 11am on the 11th of November? Why do people come together for a ceremony at this time and date?
ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
Find out about the history of Armistice Day, and some of the special events that have taken place at the Australian War Memorial on Remembrance Day since the building opened in 1941. Explore symbols of remembrance, and the stories of men and women who have served for Australia.
We encourage teachers and students to email us photographs demonstrating how their schools have commemorated Remembrance Day in the past. We would love to share these in the webinar, so please ensure any identifiable students have the appropriate media release permissions.
We also welcome any questions that your students may have about Remembrance Day prior to the webinar, as educators will endeavour to answer these during the program.
Please email photographs and questions to [email protected]
This event can be accessed with a YouTube link during and after the session on 9 November.
