A Virtual Week in Canberra – Tour of the Royal Australian Mint
Sep

Have feedback for us? Please email [email protected]
The Royal Australian Mint is Australia’s official Mint. It is the place where every Australian coin in your pocket, purse or piggy bank was made. Since it opened in 1965, it has produced more than fifteen billion circulating coins.
Join one of our Visitor Experience Hosts as they take you on a digital journey through our Proof Room, Tool Room and Circulating Coin Hall. Learn about our minting process, from a coin’s initial design all the way through to shipping it off to a bank. You’ll encounter a coin press so big we had to bring it in through the roof, vacuum furnaces that can be as hot as 960℃, forklifts that operate without a driver, and so much more!
This excursion will still be going ahead despite the ACT lockdown. If you have any questions, please check https://edu.nsw.link/DARTLearning/CanberraLIVE in the first instance.
