Discover the important symbols and features of Parliament House. Learn about how laws are made in Parliament, the responsibilities of representatives and how government is formed and kept accountable.


ACTIVITY OUTLINE:

Connect with the Parliamentary Education Office to explore Australian Parliament House in Canberra. Join our experienced educators to take at a look at some of the important symbols and features of Parliament House and investigate their meanings.

Students will learn about the Australia’s democratic system of government and the work of the Australian Parliament. During this session  students will explore:

  • how laws are made in Parliament
  • the responsibilities of representatives
  • the formation of government
  • how government is kept accountable.

This session has been specially developed as part of the ‘Virtual Week in Canberra’ program through DART Learning.
