A Virtual Tour of the Royal Australian Mint (Stage 2, Stage 3, Stage 4)

Join Georgie, our Digital Officer, as she takes you on a digital journey through our Proof Room, Tool Room and Circulating Coin Hall at the Mint.
ACTIVITY OUTLINE:
The Royal Australian Mint is Australia’s official Mint. It is the place where every Australian coin in your pocket, purse or piggy bank was made. Since it opened in 1965, it has produced more than fifteen billion circulating coins.
Learn about our minting process, from a coin’s initial design all the way through to shipping it off to a bank. You’ll encounter a coin press so big we had to bring it in through the roof, vacuum furnaces that can be as hot as 960℃, forklifts that operate without a driver, and so much more!
