Sydney Science Trail 2021 – Sustainability Superheroes Challenge
Aug
Calling all Sustainability Superheroes!
Are you ready to use your scientific superpowers to save the world? To celebrate National Science Week, we’re talking all things sustainability and challenging you with the ultimate design challenge – collaboratively design a sustainable rainwater system to help save crops on a drought-stricken farm! Will your design champion bamboo pipes, or metal buckets? Will it rest on a slope, or will you build a base to support it? Most importantly: will your design rise to the challenge when the rain finally arrives?! Students will work through all these questions and more to design their systems, before we build some of their designs live from the Garden!
Program session times & outline:
9.30am – 10.30 am – Students will learn about the importance of design in sustainability and be given the sustainability challenge to complete.
11.30am – 12.30pm – We will work with the students to build some of the designs that they submit live to investigate which solutions most efficiently meet the brief.
Please note this is a live event and will not be recorded.
